Beloved Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular programs such as "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to media reports.
"He never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives shared in a message.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Television Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, like:
- King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits encompass It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.
The actor is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
