The January recruitment period is always a period of feverish rumour and possible big-money moves. Several high-profile players find themselves linked with transfers out of their current teams. This article explores a selection of the top names that are poised to be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the AFCON, which has left the forward available, it appears an important move is imminent. This 25-year-old possesses a contract featuring a £65 million buy-out clause applicable for a short window in early January. Recent developments indicate the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Former suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have turned their attention to other options, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous move to Anfield falling through. With his deal due to run out in the close season, January is the London club's last opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous elite clubs, including Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a winter exit remains unlikely, especially given the manager's dependence on the player.

It is understood the London club is willing to consider a transfer for the right price, believed to be in the around £40 million. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be prepared to accept a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The experienced German goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barça under new coach Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a January exit looks increasingly likely. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a possible suitor, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

This proven England centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of making the England squad. The Turin club are eager to secure the youngster to a new long-term agreement but face a battle to retain one of the continent's most promising prospects.

K. Smit

This much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is widely expected to make a major transfer this month. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong rivalry from the Spanish champions for a deal priced at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
