Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a state of calamity - the threshold of which involves numerous deaths, extensive property destruction, and disruption to means of livelihoods and daily routines for residents of impacted regions.
The typhoon, called in the region Tino, tore through the populous island of Cebu, inundating whole settlements and carrying vehicles down roads.
Tens of thousands of people had to be relocated, while some are sheltering in temporary accommodations.
