New Particulars Come to Light About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Recent details have emerged concerning the shocking demises of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
A Alarm
According to a report citing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the house. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Additionally refuted published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to accounts of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
