Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Injury Problems.

'Serious blow' for the touring side after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the field early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his left hamstring post-delivery in his spell on Saturday.

The touring camp reported Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time away from the action for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The final Test of the series beginning on 4 January gets underway at the end of the week.

England have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was omitted of the third Test, before being recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets during the host's first knock, before adding 28 while batting as one of just three teammates who passed ten runs.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he returned the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of the fifth over, he bowled a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt for his hamstring.

Gus Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
